Based in Port Melbourne and working with a newly formed national team, Boral have an excellent opportunity for a Heavy Vehicle Compliance Improvement Officer. Working as part of a centre of excellence, you will be organising and conducting reviews of Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL) compliance, propose and assist in the implementation of improvement plans and conduct training sessions for staff and heavy vehicle contractor businesses in relation to HVNL compliance.

Key responsibilities:

  • Educate the Boral employees, contractors and customers in heavy vehicle safety and compliance requirements
  • Auditing of Boral major sites and contractors to ensure compliance with mass, fatigue, dangerous goods, dimension, load restraint and vehicle  standards and preparing reports and improvement plans
  • Undertake vehicle safety inspections and conduct weighing operations
  • Auditing of mechanical service providers to ensure compliance with Boral provider standards and preparing reports and improvement plans
  • Conduct investigations of potential breaches of the Heavy Vehicle National Law and preparing reports and improvement plans
  • Conduct audits and compile reports in relation to Boral’s National Heavy Vehicle Accreditations

Must haves:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, including Diploma of Quality Auditing, NHVAS Auditor Qualification, Cert IV Training & Assessment, Cert IV Government (Road Transport Compliance), Cert IV Government (Investigations) and Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Previous experience as a Transport Inspector (10+ years prefered)
  • Previous experience as a motor vehicle mechanic (5+ years prefered)
  • Previous experience conducting and reporting on Audits/Investigations (10+ years prefered)
  • In depth understanding of Heavy Vehicle National Law
  • In depth understanding of National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme
  • In depth understanding of Heavy Vehicle Safety Standards
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written) and negotiating skills
  • Strong people skills
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise competing deadlines
  • A professional, energetic and enthusiastic approach, and
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective working relationships with all people and to lead and influence people
