The Role
Broadspectrum are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to provide onsite leadership to both surface and underground project teams, engineering and commercial teams to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and ensuring HSE, efficiency and Quality goals and objectives are met and maintained on BRS and BHP sites.


Responsibilities will include but not limited to

  • Culture & Diversity – Actively drive and develop a site culture of inclusion and understanding; Identify actions to grow Indigenous Participation and diversity within contract
  • Identify opportunities to become part of local community.
  • Construction team management – Site Management of Construction Team including the responsibility for all tendering, development, construction, financial, safety and quality issues involved in these works
  • Ensuring that any necessary prioritisation of forward works programmes to meet project budget and schedule
  • Program management of construction teams; Target setting for teams to ensure efficient completion of all work;
  • Managing the performance and compliance of subcontractors
  • Providing on-site and off-site assistance for all team members, ensuring all works are completed in accordance with contract, cultural and legal requirements
  • Operational team management – Manage Project Engineering, Project Controls, Commercial and Administration to ensure the successful operation of the contract and any projects, in accordance with the budget, time schedules, quality, safety and profit targets
  • Control and overview the optimum utilization of all contract personnel and equipment resources
  • Financial – Develop, direct and co-ordinate the operation of the project, ensuring that maximum efficiency is achieved to meet project budget and Client requirements;
  • Take full responsibility for monitoring work completions within Project budgets
  • Lead team members in a culture of best business practice whereby each employee takes ownership of their individual area of responsibility and thereby helps to enhance the company profits
  • Contribute to the preparation of management and financial reports.
  • Quality – Participate in the Quality Assurance program, including development/revision etc. of procedures, and ensure that works within your control comply with the requirements of ISO 9001
  • Collaborate with the QA Group to ensure good construction practices are followed on all works, and each site is checked to an appropriate level
  • Reporting – Participate as required in the preparation of both internal, client and project specific daily, weekly and monthly safety, quality and environmental reports.
  • Participate in evaluating results to ensure positive, sustainable, performance
  • Customer Service – Provide liaison, together with the Contract Manager, to the Client Representative to ensure their satisfaction and to provide prompt action for any matters that are unsatisfactory
  • Continually participate in the implementation of Best Practice, Innovation and other initiatives within teams, functional groups and across all internal and external interfaces
  • Staff Development and Training – Manage and develop staff within the Construction Team
  • Seek to help people to grow and develop personally and professionally to ensure a sustainable company organization
  • Develop our people to include safety, quality and environment as a culture and a way of business;


Key Skills and Experience

  • Tertiary and / or Trade qualifications in an applicable discipline (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel staff as may be necessary, provide mentoring and assistance to team members who may lack in a specific skill, or whose work performance may require more detailed and individual management.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Broadspectrum vision, values and business objectives.
  • Knowledge of current and industry recognised safety work practices, procedures and regulations applicable to the work being performed.
  • Knowledge of construction, project and program controls principles and practices.
  • Current drivers licence.
  • Current Construction White Card Certification
  • An ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a complex environment with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong IT, verbal and written skills
